Cross Country Run

Today was the cross country run at Clancy's school. They had been training for 4 weeks. Clancy's is in yellow house. There's not many schools in Australia where you can start your cross country run in the front yard of the school, out across the swamp, through the tall grass and past the pigs.

A big weekend

In the end, it was all a bit too much.

Whales and Surfing

We went to Liku'Alofa today on the west coast for lunch and to give Clancy another surf. While we were there 3 or 4 pods of whales with calves came past headed South, probably about 12 whales in total.

Clancy's Birthday Party

Clancy had his birthday party today. He chose a LEGO theme so all the cakes, decorations and games followed that theme. When the kids arrived they were given a name badge in team colour (Yellow or Blue) and they had to guess how many LEGO blocks where in a jar. They then played some team games including a standing LEGO man puzzle with a Fireman on one side and a Spaceman on the other. They had a Spoon and LEGO race before having lunch. After lunch they attacked the LEGO Piniata full of lollies, awarded the winner of the guess the LEGO in the Jar and finished with a pass the LEGO game where all the kids received a LEGO miniature character and their goody box of lollies and balloons. Clancy had a great day spent with Jack, Necie, Milla, Evie, Elly Rose, Harry, Tonga, Aaron, James, Kate, Emily, Tomasi, Mosese and Piani. The adults who stayed around scoffed on Anny's Velvet muffins with an Italian meringue icing.

A Beach Morning

Clancy's school had a teacher work day today so all the kids had the day off. Clancy and I headed to Ha'atafu Beach Resort where I gave him his second surf lesson (the first was in Adelaide last year). The surf breaks on the outer reef wall then small waves form again over the top of the reef, just big enough for children to learn on.The waves were enough to take him about 25 metres on the board. He did well and stood up again. After the surf he played with his new remote control boat along the beach.

Special Birthday Present

After nearly 2 years of asking, Clancy finally got his special birthday present. His name is Clanga. His kennel is constructed to a cyclone rating (if I can keep it on the ground) and the artwork by the well known artist AMB, in a Dr. Seuss theme.

Clancy's Birthday

It was Clancy's birthday today. When he woke he was allowed to open one present before school so he picked the biggest! We arranged to pick him up form school at lunchtime and head to Vakaloa Resort to collect his special birthday present. When we came home he opened all his birthday presents and then we had a birthday muffin.Thank you everyone who sent Clancy something.

Tooth Gone

Yesterday we went for a swim at the sea pool. While there Clancy's tooth must have fallen out because some time later at home he noticed it was gone. The Tooth Fairy being a good sport came last night and gave him $2 TOP ($1USD) anyway.

Just ten days out from his 6th Birthday and Clancy has his first wobbly tooth. It won't be long before the tooth fairy comes and we have 8 months of toothless photos.

A new Addition

We promised Clancy a puppy for his 6th Birthday, actually his 5th initially but we weren’t able to get him one for him in Cambodia. Last week we found a puppy and have made arrangements to collect it next weekend. Clancy has named it Clanga, from the “Clancy the Courageous Cow” storybook. We have been busy building and decorating his new “cyclone rated” home.
