ACTS Cultural Week

Clancy's school has had a cultural week which finished with a performance on Thursday night. Clancy had two role's, one as drummer and the other telling the story of how to make Ipu Kava (Coconut Cup for drinking Kava)

The families watching intently. Parents and family members show their appreciation by tucking money into the costumes of the children. The money is then collected and becomes a community donation for the school. Clancy didn't realise the money goes to the school and after being given some money during his performance was quiet upset that someone was taking it. He didn't realise the protocol and explained, somewhat upset, his teacher what had happened.

Swimming Carnival

Clancy's school had an intense term of swimming lessons, 3 time per weeks, finishing with this swim carnival. Two lessons were at the beach and one this small hotel pool. Clancy competed in the paddle board swim and the freestyle races.

Clancy’s School Dance

Clancy’s School (ACTS) had a school dance. It’s only a little school but the staff make such an effort to make it a great experience for the kids.

1st Day of Second Year

Clancy is growing up so quickly and he knows it. Here he is starting year 2.

Roller Skating

Clancy’s school went roller skating on the last day of term 3. The rink is temporarily opened as the Queen Salote Hall, the town’s major hall for ceremonies and events. They have about 30 pairs of roller and inline skates they rent out. Clancy was all whooooa, weeeee and ouch! He had a great time and did pretty well for the first time.

Cross Country Run

Today was the cross country run at Clancy's school. They had been training for 4 weeks. Clancy's is in yellow house. There's not many schools in Australia where you can start your cross country run in the front yard of the school, out across the swamp, through the tall grass and past the pigs.

Clancy's School had it's intensive art week followed by an Art Show at the Reef restaurant

ACTS Awards Day

Today was Clancy’s School awards day. It is great to have a school which encourages and supports its students so much.

ACTS Christmas Play

Clancy’s school had its Christmas play, with the majority of the play staged around the carol Twelve Days of Christmas.



According to his music teacher the Twelve Days of Christmas in Tonga are:

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me a Lupe (Tongan Pidgeon) in a Mango Tree.

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me 2 cans of Corned beef



On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me 3 Frangipani



On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 4 rolls of Tapa (Mulberry bark cloth)



On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 5 Giant Slippers (Thongs / Flip Flops)



On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 6 Lava Lava (Sarong)



On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me 7 Women Weaving



On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 8 Gailau Dancers



On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 9 Hats a Hiding



On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 10 Hula Dancers



On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me 11 Drummers Drumming

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me 12 Fire Dancers (and Clancy was a fire dancer)
